1073: Unions and Tribes: How Odd Bedfellows Can Work Together
10:30:00 AM - 11:30:00 AM
The creation of jobs and opportunities for both tribal members and the overall community is often a prime consideration in opening a tribal gaming operation. But because this endeavor usually requires the cooperation of state and federal governments, local labor laws and traditions are often an issue. Some states, such as New York, New Mexico and California, have required that tribes allow organizing efforts to occur in their gaming operations. This session will examine the impact of those requirements and how tribes and unions can work together.
