GLOBAL GAMING EXPO ATTENDANCE CLIMBS 10 PERCENT
Increases Across All Key Sectors Reflect Diversification of Industry

LAS VEGAS—Total attendance at Global Gaming Expo (G2E) 2004 exceeded last year’s totals by 10 percent, according to verified registration numbers released today by show organizers Reed Exhibitions and the American Gaming Association (AGA).   According to the data, 25,018 industry professionals attended this year’s event, held Oct. 5-7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.   The increase represents a larger jump in G2E attendance this year compared with 2003, when attendance increased 7 percent over 2002 totals.

The number of exhibitors at G2E also substantially increased in 2004, with 705 companies exhibiting in 259,700 square feet of exhibit space. This represents a 16 percent increase in exhibit space from last year and is nearly double the amount of exhibit space featured in G2E’s debut in 2001.

“The growth of G2E this year points not only to the consistently high quality of senior buyers and sellers who attend our event, but to G2E’s unique ability to keep pace with the rapid expansion and diversification of our industry,” said Frank J. Fahrenkopf, Jr., president and CEO of the AGA.   “F&B; at G2E and other new additions made G2E 2004 a true reflection of the developments and trends shaping the industry.  No other event in the world gives attendees such a comprehensive set of tools to compete—and succeed—in this industry.”

A new conference track and Signature Series conference session specifically dedicated to worldwide gaming issues as well as growth in the number of exhibitors from outside the United States contributed to a 29 percent increase in international attendance — the most significant jump in this sector since G2E’s 2001 debut.   The 4,300 international attendees hailed from 107 different countries, including Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Switzerland, Chile, China, Columbia, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Spain, France, UK, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, Macau, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Panama, Peru, Poland, Phillipines, Russia, Slovenia, Taiwan, Venezuela.  More than 100 exhibitors at this year’s show were from outside the United States.

Conference sessions, special events and networking opportunities specifically geared for professionals involved in tribal gaming also led to attendance growth in that sector.   More than 2,000 participants at G2E 2004 were from the Native American community, an increase of nearly 11 percent over 2003 totals.

Participants at G2E also were representative of the expanded interest in gaming throughout the United States.  Attendees represented every state except Vermont, along with representatives from the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

G2E 2005 is scheduled for Sept. 13-15, 2005, at the Las Vegas Convention Center with the G2E Training & Development Institute taking place Sept. 12. For more information, go to www.globalgamingexpo.com.

Global Gaming Expo (G2E) is the international gaming trade show and conference “by the industry and for the industry.” Organized by the American Gaming Association (AGA) and Reed Exhibitions, G2E made its debut in fall 2001, defining itself as the pre-eminent show for the gaming-entertainment industry. G2E’s portfolio of global gaming events includes Casino Design and Racino.

The AGA represents the commercial casino-entertainment industry by addressing federal legislative and regulatory issues.  The association also serves as a clearinghouse for information, develops educational and advocacy programs, and provides leadership on industry-related issues of public concern.

Reed Exhibitions is a world leader in creating high profile, targeted industry events where buyers and suppliers come together to do business.  Every year, Reed events bring together some 160,000 suppliers and over nine million buyers from around the world.  Today, Reed events are held in 35 countries throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia/Pacific, and are organized by 30 fully staffed offices.   Reed’s portfolio of 470 events services 49 industries in 12 key sectors.
